CelPlan Technologies, in consortium with Sinapsis, has been selected by Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (CEMIG) in Brazil to spearhead a technical assistance project funded by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). This Technical Assistance project will develop a comprehensive Telecommunications Infrastructure Investment Plan for CEMIG’s operations in the state of Minas Gerais.
The project aims to revolutionize CEMIG’s telecommunications infrastructure, encompassing its generation, transmission, and distribution operations. CelPlan Technologies will lead the effort to assess CEMIG’s current and future telecommunications needs for grid management, identify cutting-edge technologies, and propose initiatives to drive the company’s growth.

- Evaluating current telecommunications needs for grid management operations
- Developing a strategy for replacing end-of-life network infrastructure
- Assessing future needs such as Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI), automation, and advanced web portals
- Creating an investment roadmap for short-term (0-5 years), medium-term (5-10 years), and long-term (10-15 years) planning horizons
- Streamlining third-party contracts to reduce operational expenditures and integration challenges
CelPlan Technologies will provide technology recommendations for backbone, base stations, and last mile requirements, as well as analyze the trade-offs between asset ownership and third-party service agreements.
